It’s an idea that been tossed around in our house for a few years now, ‘Lets start a blog and write about what we do. People might be interested in this stuff….right?!’ So here we are, a few years down the track and we’ve finally found time to put some thoughts down for you to share……

Ours is a journey that started some time ago; back in 1854 when an Irishman by the name of George Grey set up his family on a piece of land near Kiama, brought a few cows and started ‘The Pines’. Well, we know it was much harder than that, but you get the idea. Since then a lot has changed but the Greys have remained Dairy Farmers. We are the 6th generation of Dairy Farmer here at The Pines, however, we’re also the first generation to try something just a little bit different……

Most dairy farmers supply their milk to a larger processor who, in turn, wholesales it to retail outlets like supermarkets and grocers. This was the way we operated until just a few short months ago when we decided to ….big breath…go out on our own! That is, process and bottle our own milk on farm. And distribute it ourselves. Oh and make delicious, traditional Gelato…..and take it to markets to sell…..and rent out the homestead as a farm stay holiday let…and did I mention we just had a baby????!!!!!

In this Blog you’ll come across a range of things. From daily farming life, stories about our cows, the ups and downs of what we do and why, the highs and lows, the interesting and the boring bits. I’m Mahlah and I’ll do the writing, but the ideas and experiences are shared. My husband, Kel, works on the farm with his Father, Garry. We all love being on farm and working with our cows. We’re proud of the quality products we have and we hope you enjoy reading about what we do!

If you have any questions, comments, requests, insight or feedback; we would love to hear from you!

'Till next time….
